At Robert Max, our opticians are passionate about finding the perfect lens for your prescription and frames. We will guide you as you whittle down the options until we find the right type for your specific needs. For example, someone who spends their day outside will have very different vision needs than a person who works in front of a screen all day. Every individual will have different lens needs depending on based on their daily lives and habits, and Robert Max is here to help you find the perfect one.

Lens technology has advanced substantially even in just the last decade, and it continues to improve every year. That’s why it’s crucial to work with a trusted certified optician who can help you understand new technology and how it can benefit your vision. Our team consistently strives to research and provide the most cutting-edge lens technology to our customers.

Digital lenses are currently the industry standard, and most opticians and optometrists recommend them. However, based on your prescription and lifestyle, we may also suggest some level of compensation for your lenses, which we’ll dive into on this page. Compensation is something that just can’t be done when ordering glasses online and can be beneficial for single-vision or progressive wearers looking for clearer, more precise vision.

What are Compensated Lenses?

Compensated lenses refer to a new technology that allows opticians the ability to drastically reduce the thickness of high prescription lenses and reduce peripheral blur to offer clearer reading, intermediate, and distance vision to eyeglass wearers. These are especially beneficial to individuals with high prescriptions or astigmatisms and they offer up to 79 focal points of clarity to ensure your vision is clear no matter where you look!

What are Progressive Lenses?

You may have heard progressive lenses called a lot of names. Multifocal, no-line bifocal, and no-line trifocal are just a few of the names that all refer to this same basic type of lens. It allows the wearer seamless vision between close, mid, and long-distance ranges. That’s not to say we can’t help you with old-fashioned bifocal or trifocal lenses—we’d be more than happy to assist you if that’s what you’d prefer. Our focus is to ensure the pair you leave with is the absolute best fit for your face, lifestyle, and vision needs.

Other Lens Types and Coatings

When it comes to lenses and the types of coatings you can put on them, there are about as many brand names and styles as you’d find in any other industry. Our focus on using only independent labs means you don’t have to worry about being upsold on one particular brand.

We can find lifestyle and task-specific lenses perfect for your hobbies. For outdoorsy individuals, it’s important to have a lens that will stand up to boating, golfing, biking, hiking, or whatever your passion may be. For gamers or professionals who spend a lot of time in front of the computer, our newest single-vision lenses have blue-blocking technology built right into the lens itself! When you’re looking into your next lenses, some of the premium brands we work with include:

  • Essilor/Varilux Lenses

  • Shamir

  • Seiko

  • Younger

  • IOT

  • Zeiss

  • Unity

  • Hoya

We can also help you with lens coatings including Crizal, mirrored, or transition lenses (the most common photochromic lens).
